Surfers Paradise is situated in the bay of Ixia on the island of Rhodes, in the south east part of Greece. Popularly called the island of the sun, Rhodes has 320 days of sunshine, and is a sought after destination for tourists and water sport lovers. The wind phenomenon on the island provides some perfect conditions for performing jumps and bumps and the center truly lives up to its name as the surfers paradise. In the mornings, the water is flat, but by midday, the speed picks up, and sets the stage for some radical jumps. By late afternoon, the wind is blasting and then it’s the turn of the pros and freestylers. Surfers can make use of the latest range of surfing equipments and rigs from JP-Australia and Neil Pryde , and beginners have a range of Starboard equipment to choose from. The club is also the official test center for Neil Pryde and JP, and the test team is fluent in most European languages. This comes handy when a surfer is trying to gain expertise in gybe, or if the surfers insurance company needs to know certain details ahead of a training program in forward loop. In addition to providing top coaching in windsurfing and Kite Surfing, the Surfers Paradise also offers a range of activities for the water freaks. Vacationers can have a go at canoeing, boating, or scuba diving or, perhaps try some Mountain Biking, bungee jumping, hand gliding, some exciting motor cross events or simply fool around with friends playing some beach volley ball. The non adventurous types can perhaps opt for something more sedate like a guided hike, sauna or a relaxing massage. The center opens in the first week of March and closes November end.
